Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance specifics, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Renting a Vehicle
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Wakefield, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type. A valid driving license suitable for the category of the vehicle is required, held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Please review any extra requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Wakefield office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed to document the state of the car. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for standard wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and billed accordingly. Ensure the fuel level matches that at the time of pick-up, as refueling charges will apply for discrepancies. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Details
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to further reduce your financial liability; reviewing these options is advisable. You will be responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for illegal activities or purposes. Activities such as racing, rallying, or off-roading are prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is strictly forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should it exceed passenger or weight limits. Driving outside the designated geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Wakefield is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.
